What is the difference in LED light chips?

Which type strip light LED chip is the best to purchase?

2835, 3528 and 5050 are the 3 most used LED chips used.

2835 - Much smaller than 3528 and 5050 chips. 2835 is what we sell.
2835 SMDs as a more efficient replacement producing 20% more
light with the same power consumption.
This a great chip for indoor residential use!

3528 - Thin light - Ideal for most home situations for work or ambient
lighting, under the office desks, on the stairs and around the windows.

5050 - Bright light - Ideal for commercial use, where the observer
may be farther away - Like high ceilings, used as a wall washer,
outside building lighting, for larger areas.
5050 can also be used to change color RGB or RGBW LED tape.

Choosing the right strip with different chips can be confusing.
This information should help you to purchase what is best for you.

SMD stands for "Surface Mounted Device

" The numbers after the SMD refer to the physical
size of the LED Chip. A 2835 chip for example is 2.8mm wide and 3.5mm long.
The size is not proportional to output or performance.

SMD 2835 Chips look like 3528 chips, but with new technology and are much more efficient.
For equivalent power, they are much brighter. High output 2835 chips are utilized in our strips,
which are very bright cool and energy efficient.

What LED chips do we use?
The LEDs on our LED Strips are from by an established (2000) manufacturer called Sanan.
The LEDs have proved themselves to have a long lifetime and are of very high quality and a
lifetime of at least 50,000 hours can be expected.
Many of the cheaper LED Strips are made with poor internal materials which leads to a short life span.
The first two images above of these strips are mounted to very thin copper circuit boards.
They do not dissipate the heat away from the LEDs, shortening the life of the LED strip light.
Thin copper strips are 2 oz and 4 oz copper weight.
